Memcache module provides handy procedural and object oriented interface to memcached, highly effective caching daemon, which was especially designed to decrease database load in dynamic web applications.

memcache was first developed for database result caching on livejournal http://www.danga.com/memcached/.

First step is installing memcached daemon itself.

$ sudo apt-get install memcached

Second install libevent.

$ sudo apt-get install libevent

 Install php5-memcache extension for memcached

$ sudo apt-get install php5-memcache

 edit "/etc/php5/cli/conf.d/memcache.ini" and uncomment the line with "extension=memcache.so"

 start memcached daemon

$ memcached -d -m 1024 -u root -l 127.0.0.1 -p 11211

restart apache!!

you should be all set now :)
