I know I am a little late in writing a review for this but Until Nexus:The Jupiter Incident came out, this was my all time favorite space strategy game for four years. The graphics were way ahead oh its time so much that there are still large number of groups who build mods for the game over the original graphics engine. The AI is clever enough to kick your butt for quiet a few months of practice. The biggest selling point for this game is the graphics and the ship detail which allows you handle and build individual subsystems on most of the capital ships as well as selectively attack those on the enemy ships.an those subsystems were not hidden somewhere on the inside but were always visible on the outside as separate modules clinging to the ships. In the graphics department homeworld 2 can still beat many of the newer games hands down. The story involves two races, the nice and good Higarans from the planet Higara also called the Exiles and the evil Decepticonish Vagyr who want to destroy/conquer all else.

so following my usual trend here are the screenshots of my latest game where I play as the higarans most of the screenshots are of higaran versions of ships
.

This dude on the right is a higaran capital ship of Destroyer class. It's one of the most powerful ships in the game only beaten by the battle cruisers and strong against all other capital ships. Especially strong against the frigates, this one has been holed ( The blue sparks on the hull) by a bomber attack by the sneaky enemy

This giant on the left is called a higaran battle cruiser and is the most dreaded ship on higaran side in the game.
seen here is my battle cruiser approaching enemy resource collection point in a SEAD operation.

The lower battery of a higaran destroyer opens fire on a target

The higaran destroyer has two types of weapons. four anti-frigate/cap ship gun batteries(three on top and one below the hull), and two front torpedo bays(one on left and other on right)

seen here is my destroyer firing the top rear battery and a torpedo simultaneously.

The higaran destroyer firing on the vagyr shipyard.

Higaran Interceptor Squardon does a fly past with a battle cruiser in background.

The weakest weapon on the higaran battlecruiser is the bluish pulsar laser and there are many of these small batteries mounted all along the edge. This is used only against fast moving targets like corvettes and fighter class. If it hits a fighter the fighter goes up in a ball of fire.

The underside of my higaran battlecruiser

The most powerfull weapon on the higaran battlecruiser are the twin supercharged ion cannons(one on top and one on the lower side) seen here is the lower cannon taking shots. Battlecruisers can repair and protect corvetts and fighters in field by docking them in their docking bay seen here. The smaller ships can enter this docking bay for repairs, protection and for hyperspace jumps.

ion cannons firing simultaneously on a enemy is a beautiful site. They don't always fire in the same direction together and are fairly autonomous engaging different targets at times. They take a few seconds to recharge and then do a sweep across the enemy capital ship tearing through the enemy hull or whatever else comes in the way.

This vagyr shipyard was holed by my battlecruiser attack.

This shipyard had a breach in its starboard fusion chamber. There is only one place it can go now.

seen are the last moments before its demise

This ball of fire used to be a fighter who thought he could mess around in front of my battle cruiser's front battery.

Higaran Gunships Firing over a Vagyr carrier

This picture is from a star wars warlords mod.which is one of the many mods you can install over this game.seen here is darth vader's Imperial Star Destroyer from episodes 4-6.in a homeworld universe.
