I know I am a little late in writing a review for this but Until Nexus:The Jupiter Incident came out, this was my all time favorite space strategy game for four years. The graphics were way ahead oh its time so much that there are still large number of groups who build mods for the game over the original graphics engine. The AI is clever enough to kick your butt for quiet a few months of practice. The biggest selling point for this game is the graphics and the ship detail which allows you handle and build individual subsystems on most of the capital ships as well as selectively attack those on the enemy ships.an those subsystems were not hidden somewhere on the inside but were always visible on the outside as separate modules clinging to the ships. In the graphics department homeworld 2 can still beat many of the newer games hands down. The story involves two races, the nice and good Higarans from the planet Higara also called the Exiles and the evil Decepticonish Vagyr who want to destroy/conquer all else. The higaran destroyer has two types of weapons. four anti-frigate/cap ship gun batteries(three on top and one below the hull), and two front torpedo bays(one on left and other on right) The higaran destroyer firing on the vagyr shipyard. Higaran Interceptor Squardon does a fly past with a battle cruiser in background. ion cannons firing simultaneously on a enemy is a beautiful site. They don't always fire in the same direction together and are fairly autonomous engaging different targets at times. They take a few seconds to recharge and then do a sweep across the enemy capital ship tearing through the enemy hull or whatever else comes in the way. This vagyr shipyard was holed by my battlecruiser attack.

the vagyr BC can't fire its trinity cannon once its engines are disabled. and the missile battery can be shot out too leaving it without a heavy weapon
